Speckled parkes
Speckle Park cattle actually come from Canada originally, from the province of Saskatchewan! They’ve been represented by a Canadian society since 1985 but have only officially been recognised as a breed by the government since 2006! Speckle Park are attractive, easy on the eye with three distinctive colour patterns; white, leopard and speckle. Speckling within the progeny is expected between 65% and 90%+. LIC have been purchasing Speckle Park semen exclusively through Maungahina Stud since 2011.Their name comes from their coat colouring which is usually spotted with black, grey and white. They usually have white lines across their backs and undersides. Their faces are often black or roan.Ireland was actually home to the first ever Speckle Park born outside of the North American continent! Through embryotic sales, a County Cork farm bred the first European Speckle Park calf in 2008.Speckle Park cattle are docile and quiet, which can be handy for farms with only one worker or even beginner-breeders. However it’s vitally important that farmers take care around all bulls regardless of breed.
