Calves

Calves

Twelve small calves are standing in the paddock in tall green grass. The calves have yellow ear tags in their ears and some don't have any ear tags. The calves have milky brown fur and some have a bit of black like a shadow on their faces. The calves are fat and round like they have just been fed with sweet white milk. The calves have wet soggy milk dripping down their faces after they have been fed. The calves are finished drinking the white milk so I drive off home in my ute.

Chairs

This week room 5 and 6 have been decorating chairs. We found some old chairs in the shed and upcycled them.We had to stick on pictures that we wanted for the theme. Some of us put animals on our chairs and some did not. I like our chair a lot. Here is my group's chair.

Collage

In class for topic we have been learning about plastic and how it is polluting the world. We have been making a collage to show what we have been learning. We included sky, land, sea and sand on our collages. We had two pieces of paper and stuck them together. Then we drew lines to mark where the land, sea, sky and the sand were. Then we got some magazines and ripped out paper strips of the magazines and stuck them on the background paper to match the environment . We used pva glue and stuck the strips of paper on the collage. Next we put them on the collage for the background. When we were done we drew some sea animals then we cut them out and stuck them on the collage. We found some plastic that we brought from home  and stuck it on the collage.
The bit that I thought was hard is the sand I think that it could be better next time with more yellow paper.

The bad thing about it was keeping up on the coloured paper by ripping it out and sticking it on the collage.

The hard thing was cutting out the fish, turtle, eel and the crab and sticking it on the collage. Next time we should add more animals like birds and we could also make the mountains higher.

plastic bin liners

In class we have been writing to Mrs Wallace. We had to use persuasive writing to her. We had to use the words firstly, secondly and finally. We are trying to persuade Mrs Wallace to not use plastic bin liners for our rubbish bins. Here is my writing.

                                                           plastic bin liners

Dear Mrs Wallace,

At Awahono School we use plastic bin liners in each classroom. I believe that we don’t need plastic bin liners in our rubbish bins. Here are three good reasons why we don’t need plastic bin liners in our school.

Firstly, we use lots of white plastic bags in a year like 2,000. It would save money if we don’t use the plastic bin liners in our school.

Secondly, plastic bags are polluting and they don’t just go to the dump they also go to the sea and kill animals or they go to the shore and kill wildlife.

Finally, all we put in the plastic bin liners is scrap paper so we don’t need to use the plastic bin liners.

Those are the three good reasons why we should not use plastic bin liners, just for our wet things like banana peels, apple cores and other wet things.  So we don’t need plastic bin liners for dry things.

Yours sincerely,

Annabelle

El Gregoe

On the 4th of September El Gregoe came to Awahono School. He showed us some of his magic. My favourite trick is the guinea pig trick. He came to show us how to handle bullies. Here are the five ways. Walk away, stop, talk and ignore. The animals that he had were a guinea pig,parrot,macaw,2 pigeons and a gray parrot.

The Big Plastic Mountain

In class we have been writing about the big plastic mountain and we had to be one of the people in the picture. Here is my writing. I hope you enjoy it.

The Big Plastic Mountain

When I step into the big plastic patch plastic bottles, bags, rubbish, baskets and other disgusting plastic things are everywhere.

Hundreds of green transparent plastic bottles are scattered everywhere on the plastic mountain. Thousands of plastic bottles are delivered every day and night and we clean them up. The bottles are hurting badly under my feet because the bottles are cracked when I step on them and it hurts. I pick up a wet soggy bag and throw it into the mountain of plastic. Flies are everywhere in the plastic bottles while I’m trying to work. I put a half drunk lemonade up into the bin because the bottle was useless. My nana is taking off the labels with a sharp knife and the lids off the plastic bottles. My brother is sitting in the hunk of plastic bags and sorting out the plastic bottles so that we can get same money. It's getting dark I’m going home.
