plastic bin liners

In class we have been writing to Mrs Wallace. We had to use persuasive writing to her. We had to use the words firstly, secondly and finally. We are trying to persuade Mrs Wallace to not use plastic bin liners for our rubbish bins. Here is my writing.

                                                           plastic bin liners

Dear Mrs Wallace,

At Awahono School we use plastic bin liners in each classroom. I believe that we don’t need plastic bin liners in our rubbish bins. Here are three good reasons why we don’t need plastic bin liners in our school.

Firstly, we use lots of white plastic bags in a year like 2,000. It would save money if we don’t use the plastic bin liners in our school.

Secondly, plastic bags are polluting and they don’t just go to the dump they also go to the sea and kill animals or they go to the shore and kill wildlife.

Finally, all we put in the plastic bin liners is scrap paper so we don’t need to use the plastic bin liners.

Those are the three good reasons why we should not use plastic bin liners, just for our wet things like banana peels, apple cores and other wet things.  So we don’t need plastic bin liners for dry things.

Yours sincerely,

Annabelle

  1. Well done Annabelle, you've done a great job with your persuasive argument. Am just wondering how you got on? Did Mrs. Wallace agree to use fewer bin liners? Hope so. Please let me know. From Mrs. Horner

  2. Hi Annabelle, it's Anahera from Awahono school! I like how you point out how we use 2,000 plastic bags a year, that is a lot! You have made a very persuasive argument, and thanks to Room 5 now we don't have bin liners, so it's better for the enviroment! Good job Annabelle.
